About Jeff Newsome


Jeff Newsome is a dedicated husband and father of three children. Jeff , Kathleen, and the kids have lived in Big Bear Lake for 12 years.

He is a proud veteran of the US Navy Submarine Service and the Army National Guard.


Jeff is a Patrol Sergeant with 19 years of distinguished State service.

He currently serves our valley as the Big Bear Community State Law Enforcement Sergeant and the President of the Mountain Mutual Aid group, a multi-agency emergency service coalition. Sgt. Newsome started the Big Bear Retired Senior Volunteer Program and established the Big Bear Community Service Office in Sugarloaf.

Jeff spends his off duty hours attending community meetings, coaching youth football, mountain biking, snowboarding, enjoying watersports in San Diego County and working on his Master’s Degree in Business Administration.

The following is a letter I sent to a wonderful woman who's son was killed in action in Iraq. I have included it on the website because I feel we owe her, and all the mothers like her, a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid.
